ASCI Becomes EASA Member

On July1st, 2007, The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) became a member of The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA).

About EASA

The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) is a non-profit organisation based in Brussels. EASA brings together national advertising self-regulatory organisations (SROs) and organisations representing the advertising industry in Europe. EASA is, on behalf of the advertising industry, the single authoritative voice on advertising self-regulation issues and promotes high ethical standards in commercial communications by means of effective self-regulation, while being mindful of national differences of culture, legal and commercial practice amongst 26 members from. 24 European countries.

EASA’s General Mission:

Promotion and development of self-regulation in the advertising sector
Support of existing advertising self-regulatory systems
Management and coordination of the EASA's cross-border complaints mechanism to ensure that cross-border complaints - through a specific procedure - are resolved speedily and effectively
Provision of information and research concerning advertising self-regulation

ASCI To Gain From EASA’s Global Membership

Despite its name, EASA is truly a Global Organisation. The Self Regulatory Organisations (SRO’s) of Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil etc are also non European members of EASA.

ASCI should be able to get valuable advice, learning and even influence from being a non European member of EASA.
